What Is, and What Is Not

Some have said:

Nothing is true,
everything is permitted.

This is not true:

some things are
so we can agree.

And the opposite?

Everything is true,
nothing is permitted.

This is not true:

for if one thing is,
the other is not.

This we understand,
and yet we do not.
For both are true, and yet are not.

Some truths, perhaps,
are best kept
behind a brave and knowing smile;
behind a silent tear;
between close friends.

When the only certainty is un
we must look to now
where anything is possible.
